PTDF Scholarship 2023 Guidelines

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a Federal Government agency with the mission of developing indigenous human resources and petroleum technology to fulfill the petroleum and natural gas sector’s needs, soliciting applications from qualified applicants for the Overseas MSc and Ph.D. Scholarships to specific programs at selected institutions in the PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme for the 2022/2023 academic session. This article discusses the PTDF scholarship 2023 guidelines.

The scheme was created to allow candidates to access a vast collection of information and facilities provided by top institutions worldwide. The system will encourage candidates to apply via PTDF to specific programs at partner institutions. The award consists of flight tickets, health insurance coverage, fees for tuition and benching (where appropriate), and the allocation of funds to cover the cost of living and accommodation.

Candidates who are interested in applying should take note of the following information:

For the award 2022/2023, applications will be restricted to PTDF partner universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia, in which it believes that the scholarship’s standards will be maintained and the scheme’s goals are most effectively achieved.

Selection Process, Criteria & Requirements

PTDF scholarships are highly competitive, and only applicants that are exceptional in all aspects are considered.

Based on the qualifications submitted, The top candidates for every category from the respective states are invited for an interview in which the selection committee will be established to evaluate applications based on the following guidelines:

  • Academic merit is demonstrated through the high-quality diplomas or transcripts of academic excellence, as well as other professional credentials obtained
  • Relevant and relevant publications that should be cited by applicants (Ph.D. candidates only)
  • Professional bodies are professional organizations that have a membership.
  • The feasibility of the research/study plan.

Requirements

A:  MSc

  1. Minimum 2nd Class Upper (2.1) qualification in their first degree or second class lower (2.2) and relevant work prior experience
  2. You must have completed the obligatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
  3. Should be computer literate
  4. Possession of five credits at the O/level that include English Language and Mathematics.
  5. Statement of the purpose (maximum 500 words) providing your reason(s) to conduct the proposed study, its significance to the sector, and the anticipated impact on the nation’s development.
  6. The applicants must possess the National Identity Number (NIN) before applying for the award. It is important to remember that they’ll be required to confirm their identity before making an application (NIMC fees for verification apply). ALSO, NOTE that multiple applications could lead to a denial of the scholarship.

B: PHD

  1. You must have completed the obligatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
  2. It would help if you were computer-literate.
  3. At a minimum, they must have a Second Class Lower (2.2) and an acceptable second-degree certificate at the beginning of their degree.
  4. A research proposal that is pertinent in the field of gas and oil (of no more than five pages) to include: topic introduction, introduction, objective method of data collection, and the mode of collection
  5. All lecturers must produce an official letter from their Vice-Chancellor that they are not recipients of any other scholarship.
  6. The applicants must possess a National Identity Number (NIN) before applying for the award. The applicants should be aware that they must confirm their NIN before using (NIMC fees for verification apply).

Required Documents

The applicants are encouraged not to print copies of any of these and add them to applications online:

  1. First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result
  2. NYSC discharge certificate
  3. The results of WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO, as well the P, in the forms that allow PTDF to see the results at the O’level on the appropriate website.
  4. Recent Passport Photograph
  5. Local Government Identification Letter
  6. Master’s Degree Certification (Ph.D. Only for Applicants)
  7. The evidence of membership in professional associations

Candidates who pass through the initial stage of the screening process will then be asked to submit their transcripts. Everyone is therefore recommended to make their transcripts before submitting the request
