How to get Admission and Funding/Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies at Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA (Without TOEFL, IELTS, GRE or GMAT.)
Here are steps on how to get admission into Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA. It also includes a brief guide on how to obtain the necessary funding for Postgraduate studies.
1. Search the university’s website for a suitable course of study. www.bgsu.edu
2. On seeing your choice course of study under the degree you qualify for (Master’s or Ph.D.), do well to check the requirements which can be found still on the website. Also, make sure that all necessary boxes are properly checked.
Please note that for Nigerians, English tests like TOEFL and IELTS have been waived. Also, there is absolutely no need for a GRE or GMAT. TOEFL and IELTS
Furthermore, do well to convert your overall CGPA under the Nigerian 5.0 system to the US 4.0 system. For instance, if you had a 3.50 CGPA in Nigeria, then your result is equivalent to 3.50/5.0 x 4.0 = 2.80 CGPA in the US.
3. Email your prospective program coordinator about your interest in the program. Make a well-articulated Introduction of yourself and do well to ‘sell your potential’. After getting a response from them, go right ahead to ask about the possibility of getting funding as an international student. If you get a positive reply regarding the funding, immediately begin applying for funding, using the information that they will pass across to you. However, it is necessarily noteworthy that application for funding can be done only if you have obtained admission already.
NB: You can get the email address of the program coordinator on the BGSU website as well. You either search for it on the search bar, or you look properly when exploring the webpage of your prospective program of study.
4. You would then be required to proceed with the main application on gradapply.bgsu.edu
For the application, be sure to get the following:
- Official or unofficial transcript (either one)
- Statement of purpose
- Information of certain individuals that can help write you a recommendation letter (at least three persons). Get all of these handy.
When you successfully obtain admission, you can begin the process of applying for funding as guided by your program coordinator.
