A Valid Nigerian International Passport

You must have a valid passport to apply for an Australian student visa. You can only make a student visa application for Australia if your passport has not been used for more than six (6) months.

It would help if you renewed your passport as soon as you notice it is getting close to expiry.

Recent Passport Photos

Two passport-sized photos are also required (you can have additional ones, just in case!) that are recent.

In this instance, the photo cannot be older than six months.

Clear images should have a neutral background and an even facial expression.

Admission or Acceptance Letter

This document is essential in your application process. It would serve as proof that the school has enrolled you.

You can also show that you are here to study in Australia by submitting an acceptance letter or admissions offer.

Language Proficiency Test Result

You will need to submit a recent English language test result. This is proof that you can communicate fluently with the English language. It could be either CEA, IELTS, or TOEFL.

Evidence of financial ability

When applying for an Australian student visa, you must show that your finances are sufficient.

It proves that you have sufficient funds to pay for your tuition and living expenses.

This usually comes in the form of a bank account statement, which could be yours, your parent’s, or your sponsor’s.

You must submit your scholarship letter if you intend to study on a scholarship.

Transcripts, Academic certificates, and Resumes

Submit original transcripts from schools that you have previously attended.

Your resume and academic certificates, such as NECO or WAEC, are required for the application process.

These documents show that you have a solid academic background, so you understand what you will learn when you start your studies.

Statement of Purpose

Although it is not required, a statement of purpose can be helpful to consular officers in determining why you should apply for your visa.

The letter should explain why you are coming to Australia to study and choose your preferred university.

Evidence of good character

Australia is a nation that has zero tolerance for crime and welcomes law-abiding citizens.

A Police Character Certificate may be required to prove your good character and clean record.

Good Health is evidence.

To prove your Health, you will need to present a medical certificate.

Nigerian students may have to buy the Overseas Student Health Cover.

This can be obtained from your school or one of the five approved providers.
