York University Scholarships in Canada 2022
York University is the third-largest university in Canada. It was established in Toronto in 1959; the university offers more than 170-degree degrees for international and local students.
York University is divided into three campuses, with Keele, the principal branch located within Northern Toronto. It’s the most prominent location for the colleges for residential students: Calumet, Founders, McLaughlin, Norman Bethune, Stong, Vanier, Winters, and New College.
There is a dual-language Glendon College, and the Leslie Frost Library, on the contrary, is located on the Glendon campus. The latest Campus is called the Markham Center, partly supported by the Ontario government. Ontario government.

International Students at York University
York University has a sprawling student population of more than 49,000. One-quarter of them are international students.
Because of the high amount of international students at the institution, they have an office specifically for International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS). The office offers various services, including workshops before arrival and new orientation for international students.
The ISSS also provides immigration-related tutorials and comprehensive details on visas and permits to study in Canada.
The office also assists with health insurance and work permits.
Tuition Fee at York University for International Students
The cost of undergraduate fees at York can range from $24,000 (Computer Science program) to $27,800 (Commerce program). Graduate tuition, on the other hand, is less expensive. For instance, in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, it is possible to get a Master’s degree for only about $10,600 annually.

Application Fee at York University
To be eligible to apply at York University, prospective undergraduate students have to pay a non-refundable application fee of around $125. The price only covers three courses which means that to add another course student, they must be able to pay an additional fee of $40. Graduate students, however, will only have an admission fee of $105.
It is possible to pay on the internet using the Visa Credit/Debit Card or Mastercard. Students who do not have these cards can inquire at the Office of Admissions for another payment method.

Admissions Requirements at York University for International Students
While the undergraduate requirements differ between programs, all of them require an official high school diploma and the transcript of your records. Based on the need for the course, it may be necessary to have a particular grade or point to be admitted.
A minimum requirement for the IELTS as well as the TOEFL requirements for students in the undergraduate level areas in the following order:
- TOEFL iBT – 83
- IELTS band 6.5

According to the World Rankings, York University is listed as one of the 18 18 top school universities in Canada. Internationally, it’s placed in the bracket 401-500. For impacts, it’s known as the 33 3rd in the world.
York University is highly-ranked in Law (rank 43) and also Business & Economics (101-125) as well as the Arts & Humanities (151-175).
Shanghai Rankings also place York University in the bracket 401-500. York University’s Business & Economics courses offered by the world-renowned Schulich School of Business remain in the same spot in 100-150.

York University Acceptance Rate
Although the university remains mum regarding its admission rate, the numbers suggest that it admits 27% of the applicants. A different report shows that the acceptance rate for undergraduate students is higher, at 89%.
The Graduate Schools have more strict admission requirements with only an acceptance rate of 11 11%. This is particularly true for the highly competitive MA/Ph.D. program in Business and Law.

Undergraduate Scholarships
1. President’s International Scholarship of Excellence
- The amount of the scholarship is $45,000 per year
The President’s International Scholarship of Excellence is one of the most prestigious prizes in York, which is valued at $180,000 ($45,000 a year 4). The scholarship recipients will be selected from the top-performing international students with an unwavering commitment to volunteering and extracurricular activities and the ability to lead.
2. York University Automatic Entrance Scholarship
- The amount of the scholarship is up to $4,000 per year
The York University scholarship for international students is available to international and local students with an admissions average of at least 80%. The amount awarded will be contingent on the student’s grades and eligibility. For instance, a student having an IB score of 42-45 could be eligible for a grant worth around $3200.
The scholarship is renewable for three years, based on the applicant’s workload and GPA. To qualify, the student must keep a GPA of at minimum 8.0 and a total course amount of 24 units for the duration of the award.
3. Glendon International Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: $4,000 to $8,000
The Glendon International Scholarship is available for students outside the mentioned college. To be eligible for the York University scholarship for international students, applicants must score an 85 and demonstrate the ability to lead and financial need.
The winners are selected through nominations received from school or community groups. In addition, the candidate must write a 300-word essay that shows the applicant’s leadership qualities and potential achievements in the direction of Glendon College.

Graduate Scholarships
1. York University Minimum Funding Commitment
- The amount of the scholarship is up to full tuition, and the stipend
York University offers excellent graduate students a minimal commitment to funding. If this commitment is made when they enrol, the students will pay, at the very least, full tuition. If the student is awarded more scholarships such as TA or RA, Students may receive a stipend to help pay for a living wage.
2. Armand and Denise LaBarge Graduate Scholarship in Multiculturalism
- Scholarship Amount: $6,450
The Armand and Denise LaBarge Graduate Scholarship in Multiculturalism is awarded to one MA or PhD student who exhibits superior academic performance in their field of research. As per its name, the York University scholarship for international graduate students is based on those who advocate for Multiculturalism, Diversity, and Human Rights.
It is a one-time grant. The applicants must submit a completed request form, curriculum vitae, and a transcript of their documents to the Coordinator of Scholarships and Awards.
3. Joyce and Fred Zemans Scholarship
- Scholarship amount: $2,700 (variable depending on the endowment fund)
The Joyce and Fred Zemans Scholarship Non-Renewable are offered to three students from the Graduate Program for Art History, the Schulich School of Business MBA Program, and The Osgoode Hall Law School Graduate Program in Law.
While there are specific qualifications that applicants must meet, necessities include current or forthcoming enrollment and evidence of academic achievements. Other documents required include a nomination letter to the program director’s curriculum vitae and transcripts of records—the Statement of Research required for Art History and Law majors.
