Five Universities that Offer UNCF Scholarships to International Students without IELTS/TOEFL Requirement
The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) is a nonprofit organization that assists historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) by providing multiple scholarship programs for American students and international students. There are some UNCF member institutions that offer admission and scholarships to international applicants without demanding the submission of proof of English language proficiency such as IELTS or TOEFL test scores. Here are some of the UNCF partner universities that offer admission and UNCF scholarships without IELTS/TOEFL requirements.
1.) Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee
In addition to granting application fee waivers, Fisk University grants international students the choice of demonstrating English language proficiency through other means such as the submission of academic transcripts and recommendation letters, etc. This privilege applies to the UNCF scholarship applicants.
2.) Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, Mississippi
Tougaloo College completely waives the requirement for the submission of standardized English language proficiency Exam scores for international students who have been granted admission into Tougaloo College as well as awarded a UNCF scholarship. The scholarship offers full tuition coverage and flight payment.
3.) Dillard University, New Orleans, Louisiana
Dillard University allows international candidates who are eligible for its fully funded specialized UNCF Global Scholars Awards to defer English Language testing while applying for admission into Dillard University.
4.) Clark Atlanta University (CAU), Atlanta, Georgia
This university excludes certain international first-year students from submitting proof of English Language proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL). To be one of these students, the candidate must be one of the lucky recipients of the renewable, fully funded, CAU UNCF Global Scholars Award. These candidates are permitted to demonstrate their English language proficiency through Interviews and application essays.
For more information on the entire application process for these scholarships, kindly visit the official websites of UNCF or the above-stated universities.
