About the Opportunity

The University of Oxford is inviting applications for a Senior Researcher role within the Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health). This is a world-class research environment fostering innovation across disciplines, where scientists, data specialists, and healthcare experts collaborate to address some of the most critical global health challenges.

In this role, you will work with an international research team focused on understanding the biological mechanisms behind aging, resilience, and disease through large-scale single-cell data and longitudinal population studies. The project also connects to AI for Health and Translational Epidemiology initiatives at the Big Data Institute, placing you at the intersection of artificial intelligence, genomics, and population health.


Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Researcher in this interdisciplinary position, you will:

  • Collaborate on large-scale datasets to study cellular-level mechanisms of aging and disease.
  • Integrate AI-driven models with population health data to reveal novel biological insights.
  • Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation, supporting an international team of researchers.
  • Play a leadership role within the Awadalla Lab, guiding the next generation of scientists in computational biology and epidemiology.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the world’s largest single-cell and longitudinal health datasets, contributing to breakthroughs in precision medicine and aging research.


Who Should Apply

You are encouraged to apply if you have:

  • A PhD/DPhil in computational biology, machine learning, statistical genetics, or a closely related field.
  • Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in genomics, molecular epidemiology, or quantitative biology.
  • Strong communication skills and a proven track record in collaborative scientific projects.
  • Experience supporting research teams through data analysis, publication writing, and funding proposals.

Part-time and flexible arrangements will be considered for outstanding candidates.

  • Duration: Fixed-term for 3 years (full-time or part-time options available)
  • Salary: £49,119 – £58,265 per annum (including Oxford University weighting)
