The University of Colorado Boulderβs Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) is hiring a highly skilled IT Client Support Technician II to deliver world-class technical support to researchers, engineers, and scientists. As a key member of LASPβs IT team, you will provide Tier-1 help desk support to keep mission-critical systems and workstations running smoothly. Key Responsibilities
As an IT Client Support Technician II, you will:
π§ System Configuration and Maintenance
- Configure, support, and maintain desktops, laptops, and peripheral systems.
- Deploy Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
- Coordinate updates, outages, and configuration changes to reduce downtime.
πΌ Technical & User Support
- Provide Tier-1 help desk support to LASP employees, resolving hardware and software issues.
- Manage service and incident tickets efficiently to ensure timely resolutions.
- Support A/V devices, printers, and network-connected equipment.
π Security and Account Management
- Manage user accounts, security groups, and system permissions in Active Directory.
- Maintain IT security standards while balancing accessibility and operational needs.
π§Ύ Documentation & Asset Tracking
- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory and IT operational procedures.
- Educate users on technology best practices, cybersecurity, and software use.
Position Details
- This position is primarily on-site, with occasional extended hours or off-hour support needs.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of help desk or IT support experience.
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and macOS administration.
- Experience troubleshooting desktop hardware and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Linux (CentOS, RedHat, Fedora, SUSE) administration.
- Familiarity with PowerShell, Python, and Bash scripting.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, automated deployment tools, and JAMF/MCM management systems.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.
