🎯 About the Role
As an Assistive Technology Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in identifying, implementing, and promoting assistive technology solutions that support students’ learning experiences. You’ll help build awareness, capability, and confidence in assistive technology use across the university.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with students and staff to recommend and implement assistive technologies that ensure equitable learning opportunities.
- Develop resources, guides, and training materials to strengthen inclusion and disability confidence within the university community.
- Offer expert advice on integrating assistive technologies into academic and digital systems.
- Contribute to accessibility and digital inclusion projects to improve student experiences.
- Partner with academic teams to promote Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
- Utilize data-driven insights to evaluate and improve assistive tech initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture within Student Services.

To succeed in this role, candidates should bring a mix of technical expertise, empathy, and a passion for inclusive education.
Essential Requirements:
- A degree with relevant experience or equivalent education and expertise in a related field.
- Strong understanding of assistive technologies, accessibility tools, and digital inclusion practices.
- Experience supporting people with disabilities and knowledge of relevant education and disability legislation.
- Excellent communication and training skills for building digital accessibility awareness.
- Proven ability to manage projects, priorities, and sensitive information with discretion.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and collaboration.
