As the Business Services Manager, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Department of Communication by providing financial oversight, staff supervision, and administrative leadership.

1. Office Management and Supervision

  • Serve as the department’s administrative lead and main point of contact.
  • Supervise administrative staff and oversee workflow delegation.
  • Represent the department in faculty meetings and university committees.
  • Coordinate logistics for office operations, including facilities, supplies, and events.
  • Oversee the department’s social media and website updates.
  • Maintain a professional and inclusive work environment for faculty, staff, and students.

2. Budget and Financial Oversight

  • Lead budget planning, preparation, and monitoring throughout the fiscal year.
  • Track department revenues and expenditures and prepare financial reports.
  • Collaborate with CMDI Finance to approve transactions, transfers, and audits.
  • Forecast future spending, manage budget shortfalls, and propose strategic solutions.
  • Support grant administration and financial compliance.

3. Course Scheduling and Academic Coordination

  • Partner with the Department Chair to develop course schedules for each semester.
  • Track enrollment data, classroom availability, and teaching assignments.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for course offerings and resource allocation.
  • Oversee course setup in CU’s academic system and manage add/drop processes.

4. Faculty Affairs and Recruitment

  • Support faculty recruitment, onboarding, and promotion processes.
  • Coordinate interview schedules, travel arrangements, and candidate communications.
  • Manage documentation for tenure, reappointment, and merit reviews.
  • Draft contracts for lecturers and maintain accurate personnel records.
