About the Role
As an Excavator Operator at Irritek, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality excavation services on small to mid-sized site projects. The position requires someone who is technically skilled, safety-focused, and capable of working independently while also collaborating effectively with supervisors and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Workplace Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and complete safety documentation before each job.
- Participate in tool-box meetings and contribute to safe work practices.
2. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Perform daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on the excavator and work vehicle.
- Ensure efficient machine operation including cleaning, lubrication, and refueling.
- Assist with scheduled servicing to keep equipment in optimal condition.
3. Excavation & Site Works
- Perform earthworks including:
- Bulk excavation
- Trenching
- Pipelaying
- Final trim operations
- Safely operate attachments such as augers, rollers, buckets, silt buckets, and rippers.
4. Project & Job Coordination
- Work closely with supervisors and the Operations Manager to meet project objectives.
- Interpret diagrams, job plans, and technical designs.
- Travel to worksites across rural NSW (overnight stays may be required).
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately complete daily timesheets and WHS paperwork.
- Identify and recommend improvements in work processes and safety practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience operating excavators and attachments.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans.
- Strong mechanical knowledge relating to heavy machinery maintenance.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of safety compliance standards within the construction industry.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
