Key Responsibilities

As an Export Control Analyst, you will play a vital role in maintaining institutional compliance with U.S. trade laws and research security requirements. Your core duties will include:

  • Export Control & Compliance Oversight
    Assess, document, and issue export control guidance related to international collaborations, sponsored programs, international travel, and foreign partnerships.
  • Data & Reporting Management
    Maintain export control databases and assist in tracking export licenses, prior U.S. Government approvals, and equipment subject to export regulations.
  • Policy Implementation & Training
    Support the implementation of university-wide export control policies and train staff and faculty on compliance best practices.
  • Visa & Research Security Support
    Collaborate with International Student and Scholar Services to conduct restricted party screenings and manage visa-related compliance.
  • Contract & Agreement Review
    Review research agreements, MOUs, NDAs, and proprietary data sharing contracts for international compliance.
  • Research Facility Oversight
    Assist with the management of CU’s facility clearance for classified or restricted research.

Salary Range

πŸ’΅ $67,600 – $75,000 annually
Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Working knowledge of U.S. export/import laws (ITAR, EAR, OFAC).
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency due to export-controlled information access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (JD or related field).
  • Experience in academic or research compliance environments.
  • Familiarity with Fundamental Research Exclusion (FRE) and classified research procedures.
  • Eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance.

Skills and Competencies

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • The capacity to interpret complex technical and legal documents.
  • Collaboration skills across diverse teams and disciplines.
