McGill University’s Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) is inviting qualified applicants for a Course Lecturer position (EDPE 300-707: Educational Psychology). This short-term teaching appointment is ideal for education professionals passionate about culturally responsive pedagogy and advancing Indigenous education in Quebec.

📖 Course Details

Course Title: Educational Psychology (EDPE 300-707)
Course Description:
This course explores key theories, models, and concepts in educational psychology that inform effective teaching and learning. It emphasizes:

  • Human development, cognition, and motivation
  • The role of individual differences in learning
  • Integration of educational technology
  • Application of psychology in classroom instruction
  • The Youth Protection Act and its implications in education

Credit Value: 3 credits (not team-taught)
Course Duration: October 27 – November 1, 2025
Contract Period: October 27 – November 15, 2025
Schedule: Monday–Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. & 1:30–5:00 p.m.
Teaching Mode: In-person at Kangiqsujuaq (707)

✈️ All travel, accommodation, and per diem expenses will be covered by OFNIE.


🧠 Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs)

Education

  • Master’s or PhD in Educational Psychology, Applied Cognitive Psychology, Learning Sciences, or Human Development (or equivalent).
  • Exceptional applicants without a Master’s but with significant professional or research experience related to the course content may be considered.

Experience

  • Deep knowledge of educational and psychological theories.
  • Experience applying these theories to real-world educational contexts.
  • College/university-level teaching or professional K–12 teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur (MELS) standards.
  • Understanding of the Quebec Education Program (QEP) and Indigenous pedagogical frameworks.

OFNIE-Specific Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous education systems and the impacts of colonialism.
  • Experience teaching or consulting in Indigenous or Northern communities.
  • Proven ability to adapt course materials to local cultural and educational contexts.
  • Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles.
